Whats the best way to remove the spout in the bath tub with out cracking the pipe?

Removing A Tub Spout

Plumbing repairs and modifications can be difficult for homeowners, often because the work requires specialized tools. Removing a threaded tub spout is one of these jobs. Most plumbers will reach for a strap wrench to loosen the spout. This specialized tool grips the spout firmly with a strap--made of a fire-hose-like material--that doesn't damage the spout's finish. But if you don't have one, the next-best thing is to slide the handles of slip-joint or tongue-and-groove pliers into the spout and rotate counterclockwise. This may not work as well as a strap wrench, but it does the trick without scratching the finish.Whats the best way to remove the spout in the bath tub with out cracking the pipe?
wrap a towel over the spout then use a pipe wrench or pliers, applying gentle force to losen... Look underneath spout and see if there might be a set screw holding it in position...Whats the best way to remove the spout in the bath tub with out cracking the pipe?
Use a lot of lubricant, WD40 or some other rust removal product.

Insert a dowel into the spout and move slowly back and forth until the spout's loosened, then remove.

TBCB. I am assuming you have cpvc pipe connected to thefaucet. If you do you have to get in behind and hold the pipe. Or it will crack or break.
