What causes the water to the bath tub to make a whistling sound once you turn it on,?

the sound will stop if you turn down the water some instead of having it wide openWhat causes the water to the bath tub to make a whistling sound once you turn it on,?
Classic question here. The problem is the bib washer in the faucet. it has worn to a configuration which causes the water to whistle while flowing over it.

by opening the faucet more, the water flows more and the whistling stops.

replace the washer and you'll be fine.

Do the pipes also whistle if someone in another part of the house turns on water? You may have low pressure in your holding tank, so that whenever the water is low and your holding tank is being refilled, the pipes whistle.
air is trying to escape...turn on all outlets for fifteen minutes...
the sound of the water rushing through the pipe to the faucet makes the noise inside.
