How to get my bath tub clean?!?

So my husband and I live in military housing, and the bathtub is made out of a weird material. We have tried cleaning it with all sorts of different cleaners, and I even put bleach in there last night and let it sit over night, but that didn't help either. It seems to be maybe hard water stains, so i am wondering what other things I can try to get the tub clean?!How to get my bath tub clean?!?
Have you tried the product CLR..Calcium, Lime, Rust....it is sold in places such as the grocery store and drug stores. It works miracles. Outside of that if you have some baking soda and half cup of vinegar make a paste and take a bit to test a spot. Use a sponge that is soft. Mix one cup of baking soda to half cup of vinegar. How to get my bath tub clean?!?
Wet the tub and sprinkle the whole bottom of your tub with baking soda, let it sit for 5 to 10 min. then grab a scrubber and this should move any build you have and stains.
I once cleaned a toilet that we thought was beyond saving by pouring a gallon of vinegar in it and letting it sit overnight. Vinegar is cheap and amazing, it dissolves hard water and is non-offensive to the environment.
Clr work but I think it is too runny.

The Works Shower and Tub Cleaner does wonders!

Anything that is industrial strength... but you will need a gas mask and a well ventalated room

Let any of these sit about 20 minutes and scrub with a grren dish scrubber.

  • How much does it cost to tile a standard bath tub?

I just paid $475 to have my bath tub tiled (LABOR only) and got two quotes -- the highest one was $700 for labor and lowest was $475 for labor. I'm in Houston.

Is refacing a bath tub as good as new?

No. It's not as good as new.

That said, I had my reglazed and I LOVE it. The tub in our house is a beautiful, old, huge cast iron tub that would probably cost us $2000 new - not including the cost of cutting up the old one and moving it through the bedroom, through the hallway, down the stairs, etc and then having a new one put in.

Our reglaze cost us $250 (which seems to be on the cheap side - I've heard between $300 and $600 from other people) and the guy that did ours did a beautiful job.

Now, it's not a durable as it used to be. You can't use scouring powder, or anything abrasive at all on it. When I take a bath, I'm careful to take off some of my rings so I don't scratch up the tub. But I think it was a great choice for us.Is refacing a bath tub as good as new?
No and you need to be very careful.....I didn't like mine and replaced it with a new one as soon as I could afford it.Is refacing a bath tub as good as new?
it all depends. if you buy the stuff from home depot or any store like that then no. However I have seen some rebath companies do a very nice job. but if they are not a good company it can come out bad
It depends. If you have a unique piece not easily replaced, then it may be a good investment. This assumes you are using an experienced contractor - a specialist that does this work regularly.

If you are thinking of re-coloring a standard tub I wouldn't do it. The ones I've seen have all ';lifted'; at some point.

The finish just cannot be adhered the same as a factory baked finish, unfortunately.
I have resurfaced a couple of tubs for clients and also my mother just had hers resurfaced. If your talking about having a professional come and resurface an older claw foot porcelain tub or built it porcelain tub, than I say yes it is worth it and it is long lasting and looks like a new porcelain tub. But if you are referring to something like the Re-Bath company I don't have any experience with that.
No!!!, my grandmother did that and it peeled off! I have heard good things of re-bath. It is a complete liner that they fit over your existing bath and they can do the surround also. Go to Rebath.com.

I hope it turns out GREAT!!!
no. if you dont mind the inconvenience of a bath makeover, you would be better off replacing rather than refacing. a bathtub liner is the cheap way to go because you dont have to redo the rest of the bath, but you still have your old bathroom and you've spent $1000. the liners are long lasting though, and if installed properly, work real well. bathfitters is one of the companies that installs.

P.S. this is not a diy job

Need help finding a toddler bath tub?

I have a 14 month old baby boy who is 32 inches tall and weighs 28 pounds. We don't have a bathtub, only a shower stall and he is wayyy to big for his baby-to-toddler bath tub. He always shivers in it because the water doesn't even cover his legs anymore. Are there any bathtubs out there for older babies? Thank you.Need help finding a toddler bath tub?

This may not fit in your shower...it is like a blow up pool bathtub.

    measures 33';L x 23';W x 8½';H (outside length including flap: 37';L)

Have you tried just showering him? Some toddlers like it, others don't like the water in their faces.Need help finding a toddler bath tub?
    Awwwwww :(

    Poor baby!!

Well- the only thing I can think of is getting one of those big metal tins/buckets. Do you know what I am talking about? And then filling it up with warm water and bathing him in there.

I haven't seen any bigger bath tubs for babies over a year.

Good luck! I hope you find what you are looking for and your baby doesnt get cold anymore :)

ETA: Now that people are mentioning it- I did buy that ducky bath tub for a friend at Target. And it is $12. Try that!
Here's a inflatable tub that fits right into the shower:

    Here is one similar:

have u tried babies r us. there are this great booster bath chairs. they are for bath tubs. but you may want to try in the sink. thats what we did with my 14month old when we are at his nana's house. she does not have a tub either. hope that helps you
I had the same issue, so i went to walmart and they have a ducky bath that my 11 month old fits in, she does sit up in it but the water goes up high enough for her so it works. They are $12.00 so it is good.
This may work Wal-Mart has these tiny little blow up pools. They are small enough for a little one to sit in and splash around but it still isn't to big. I haven't seen them online but I saw them in the store.
He can learn to take a shower if you just take him in there with you! They don't make toddler tubs anyway, that's just silly!
We have the big ducky one from walmart. it was like 12 bucks.... it is inflatable.
you should go on Crage list

Does anyone know how to clean theses spots on the bottom of my bath tub?

    http://flickr.com/photos/32126597@N08/?s鈥?/a>

I've tried to clean the bottom of my tub with all sorts of cleaners an the spots won't go away. I clean my tub regularly. I';ve used :comet, ajax, all sorts of disinfectants, baking soda but the spots are still there. Help pleaseDoes anyone know how to clean theses spots on the bottom of my bath tub?
I would take bleach and pour it on the spot and let it stay overnight, and see if that does anything.

or try Mr Clean magic sponge. and see if that does it.Does anyone know how to clean theses spots on the bottom of my bath tub?
WHEN I MOVE TO MY VEGAS APT. THE TUB WAS SO FULL OF BLACK SPOTS, SO I TRIED EASY OFF THE OVEN CLEANER, AND GUESS WHAT? IT WORKS!!
Mr. clean Magic Eraser is awesome, especially for bathtubs that have the rough surface so you won't slip yet easy to pickup dirt You just scrub it off with the blue area and it will come up in bits and pieces and you just need to rinse it off. You can pretty much use it for anything.
try using soft scrub with bleach and a magic eraser. i have used several different methods in the past and this is the best i have found. good luck!
Use the Magic Eraser that the other two talked about! THEY ARE WONDERFUL!!!!
Vanessa, you should try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! I had some discoloration on the bottom of our tub and bleach wouldn't even lighten it up. I used a Magic Eraser and it was gone! I had tried everything too; bleach, comet, baking soda, every kind of scrubber you can imagine! Nothing worked.... you should really try it!

    Good Luck!
Have you tried bleach? I love those bleach gel pens. Rub a little of that on there and let it sit for awhile before washing it away.

What are those things called that you put your baby in inside the bath tub to hold them up?

and where can i find one? What are those things called that you put your baby in inside the bath tub to hold them up?
a baby bath chair? My son is 9 monts old and has one we love it just need to be right there incase he leans to far it wil tip over. I found mine on a local freecycle groupWhat are those things called that you put your baby in inside the bath tub to hold them up?
They are called a major choking hazard. And they are not recommended. They have bath accessories that look almost like a soft float that baby can lay on that absorbs water, keeps baby warm and safe in the tub. They sell them thru babiesrus. You can also use a very small amount of water and a towel and lay baby on the towel. Once baby can sit up you can use a non-slip mat or a towel in the bottom of the tub to keep them in place better.
do you mean a bath eaz for infants or a bath ring for the baby to sit up? either or you can get them at any box store.
They are a hazard to your baby and i agree with the first comment! Don't use them and go to babiesrus to find a special mat for ur baby!
idk what you mean, but look up the 'primo euro tub'; it has support for a nb and a older baby built in....hth

  • Need to replace sealant around bath tub?

I replaced my bathroom suite this summer. Already the sealant is cracking and showing gaps. Can I put more sealant over it or do I need to remove the old and replace with new? If I need to remove the old, what is the best way to do it without taking chunks out of the (plastic) bath?

Thanks...Need to replace sealant around bath tub?
As a former tiler, who used to seal baths 2 or 3 times a week .....

    - remove old sealant all the way round - with a stanley blade, as described. Mare sure you get as much off as possible, off the wall and the bath.

    - clean it up, make sure there are no bits in the way of where the new sealant is going - you can pick off little bits, or scratch them off with a finger nail

    - cut the nozzle of the tube to a suitable diameter, at an angle of 45 degrees.

    - hold the tube (preferably a mastic gun) at a angle of 45 degrees to the direction of travel, and squeeze the sealant out at a constant rate, whilst dragging (not pushing) the nozzle along the gap.

    - don't stop - complete the whole length of the gap.

    - repeat around all gaps to be filled.

    - wet your index finger (lots and lots of spit, so the mastic doesn't stick to it), and run your finger along each gap, to give a smooth finish, and also to complete the seal against the bath and the wall/tiles

any gaps can be filled with an additional squeeze of mastic (not too much), and smoothed over as before, for a perfect finish.

    - ps - have a tissue handy, to wipe excess off your finger, after each length has been smoothed with your finger.

    - easy !Need to replace sealant around bath tub?
whatever did you use if you used the right stuff you should be able to peel it off pretty easily
Are you a bloke or what? Even I can do this and I'm a bloody bird.... rip off as much as the old sealant as you can and replace... and this time do it properly, it shouldn't be coming away already....

or better still as you sound like a complete liability around the house, get a professional in.
I find it easiest with a stanley knife blade, if it is a fibre glass bath you have to be careful of cutting into the bath itself, so make sure it si flat to the bath surface

It is better to take the blade out of the knife handle, push it into the sealant and holding it flat to the bath edge run it along.

Then do the same as you run it along the wall edge but twist the blade slightly into the wall as you run it along.

You must keep your fingers to the back edge of the blade and it can be held in paper if it is more comfortable.
If it's deteriorating, simply peel it off - you may need to scrape at it with a curved paint scraper (I've found these useful in the past). You can also get a solvent to remove the last of the bits.

A tip from a professional plumber which was passed on to me. When you're resealing your bath, fill it with cold water so that when it's dry and you fill the bath again, you don't cause a gap to appear.
You need to strip all the old stuff off first.

I bought some stuff from B%26amp;Q (name has gone though) and it helped take all the old sealant off. As it is cracking already, it shold be easy to get a wallpaper scrape blade beind it and yank it off??

When you are putting the new sealant on, make sure you don't leave the sealant to be on a slope or when it dries (which takes over 24 hours), water will gather in the gaps and it will go mouldy even if the sealant states that it never goes mouldy.

I will be re-doing mine in the next two weeks.

    Good luck :-)
If the old sealant is coming away, I would gently try and prize it off first. You cant really put a fresh application over the top..
Try white spirits to help remove the old sealant and a grout remover tool. Next sealant you try get a silicone based sealant instead, it is elastic and wont crack and is waterproof.
remove old sealant with sealant remover from b%26amp;q etc, when putting new sealant on fill the bath first as plastic baths move slightly !!!
did you fill the bath with water the first time this helps when sealing as the bath will move with water being added if you hadn't try doing it again.

just use a stanley knive or other sharp knife and get into a corner try prising some out and pull it along.

My Daughter got into the bath tub and burn her feet?

My two year old learned to get into the bath tub and today she turn on the hot water....when I found her her feet were already covered with hot water...I switched the water to cold and bathe her with cold water..She did complained a little bit but did not scream or nothing like that..her feet were red for 30 minutes but now they are normal color..Is she going to be ok?My Daughter got into the bath tub and burn her feet?
If they are no longer red she will be fine, But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE turn your hot water heater down to below 120 degrees. To prevent her from getting scalded by accident. Also they sell things you can put over the knobs on your tub to keep kids from turning the water on.My Daughter got into the bath tub and burn her feet?
if they blister take her 2 the Dr's if not she will be fine
I don't know if she is going to be okay...why weren't YOU supervising your two year old?
    Yes,, she will be ok.

    No worries mom.

You may want to bar her from going into the bathroom and doing that though. It could be dangerous.
No blisters, no tenderness, she's fine, but you got lucky! Go to the baby store and get a block for the water faucet. She's going to do it again, guaranteed, and next time you might not be so lucky.
might be a good idea to get those door knob covers that kids cant open. my little girl katerina learned to open the doors as soon as she could walk so i learned real quick how much those door covers come in handy.
    She will be fine.

You might want to turn down the temp on the hot water heater so it is not so hot.

Hopefully she learned her lesson and will not try that again. Stress to her that she could have been hurt worse and to please don't do it again, it makes Mommy sad when her little girl it hurt.
your little girl will be just fine ;)

How many gallons of water fit in a bath tub? How many gallons does someone use in an average 10 min shower?

Average tub is 40 gallons, but that would be full. So if you take a bath in a few inches obviously less water. The type of shower head will also make a shower vary. If you live in a state with water shortages you should average 5 gallons per minute, in other states up to 10 gallons per minute. I have a low flow which is only 2.5 gallons per minute. How many gallons of water fit in a bath tub? How many gallons does someone use in an average 10 min shower?
get out your tape measure.......7.5 gallons per cubic foot.

and for a ten minute shower...it depends so much on your water pressure and what type of shower head you have..try closing the drain and then measure how much water after ten minutes.....

What would cause drains to just a bath tub and a shower (in different rooms) to back up quickly then go down?

Check the vent pipe. The vent pipe allows air to enter the plumbing system and the water to drain smoothly. What would cause drains to just a bath tub and a shower (in different rooms) to back up quickly then go down?
could be the vent more likely hair build up in trap go down to lowes plumbing and get a tool called a zip-it its white and has barbed edges run this down the drain as far as you can give a twist and pull it out.if it is hair get ready for a shock if its hair if nothing comes out after a few tries run the water and get a plunger and plunge away.on the tub though you will need to cover the over flow with a second plunger or remove it and stuff wet rags in it so you can get a good suction.i unstop about 20 tubs a week as a plumber for our local university.....

How do you clean around the bath tub caulk??

LOL, I just finished recaulking my whole tub because I could not get it clean. I tried scrubbing, I tried Tilex, I tried Mr. Clean Magic eraser and nothing worked. I ended up pulling all the old caulk off and redoing it. If you do this make sure to fill the tub before you caulk. Otherwise, when you add water it can pull on the caulk and break it loose. How do you clean around the bath tub caulk??
old toothbrushHow do you clean around the bath tub caulk??
    hydrogen peroxide will ';bleach'; it
    bleach and a soft brush
I have never had success with cleaning it. It's really easy to remove the old caulking, scrub it out and re-caulk. I bought a kit with the remover tool and a tube of silicone and the tools and instructions from an informercial on tv. Then, when the plumber came to fix a tap, he thought I was ';cheating'; on him with another plumber because the job looked so professional. It was funny and I was really proud. If you do it right, you can just clean it with the rest of your tub. Good luck and have fun!
tile guard comes in a bottle like shoe polish, will make it white again. If you mean around the caulk use a pumice stone

It's hard to say without you telling us what kind of distinguishing marks it has. If it's a baby snake, as you say, that's even tougher to decipher. There are an upwards of 56 different snake species in the San Antonio area. I remember a story a herpetologist once told about a toddler that happened upon a pile of ';worms';...turned out they were baby rattlers and the toddler died from multiple bites. The next time a snake turns up in your home, call a representative from the Snake Rescue Team in San Antonio (for your area) and they will arrange to pick it up:

How do I get that black mold out of the gout of my bath tub?

Spray it with some bleach.....let it sit for 30 minutes .....rinse really well and then spray some ammonia on it......let sit for about 5 minutes and rinse again. The bleach takes the black off and the ammonia kills the spores. DO NOT use them at the same time....makes deadly chlorine gas. That's why I said to rinse really well. How do I get that black mold out of the gout of my bath tub?
A vinegar spray will kill the mold if their is not too much, otherwise you should scrape all off and use new caulking.Make sure the tube says mold resistant not the normal white caulking. How do I get that black mold out of the gout of my bath tub?

How can I remove mildew from shower tile in the bath tub.?

A once a week application of any soap and mildew cleaner sold at supermarkets will do the job. How can I remove mildew from shower tile in the bath tub.?
There are a lot of products, Tilex, Kaboom, etc, but plain old bleach and water will work too. Let it sit for a bit before scrubbing. Some products are now gel so they will stay in place better though. One thing I have done in the past is use Ajex and made a paste then let it sit for most of the day until it was dry, then when I scrubbed it off, the tiles were clean and it didn't take much effort. Ajax has bleach in it so that makes sense. Bleach is what kills the mold so that's important.

I guess it depends on how much you want to spend and how much elbow grease you want. How can I remove mildew from shower tile in the bath tub.?
tilex or any number of similar products at any store.
';Clorox cleanup'; that works better then plan bleach.

I have kept some goldfish in my old bath tub. They are doing more comfort rather than they used to be in 20 gal tank before. They keeps on growing and health in bath tub.
uh, no. first no pump, second chlorine, third chemicals andsoapused toclean the tub and you ... ifyou want fish, just get a tank =]
No, there are multiple factors that would cause your fish to die.
Yeah, and they like to take bubble baths too. LOL
no you might step on it when getting out.... da!!!! and also it needs oxygen to breathe!!!!!!!
    sure.

as long as you treat it exactly like an aquarium.

if you do it, please share pics.
I don't see why not, so long as you aren't bathing in it.

Painting Plastic Walls inside the bath tub/shower?

Is there a way to paint this and if yes how?I want it pure white.Painting Plastic Walls inside the bath tub/shower?
At places like Home Depot or Lowes they sell bathtub refinishing kits, its a thicker enamel paint that dries smooth, hard, and waterproof. Its intended for porcelain or fiber glass tubs, but may work on you insert too.

What is the best way to refinish a bath tub?

A bath tub can be refinished and it will look great. The issue is that you can not do it yourself. There are professionals who do this and it can save you a lot of money as you will not need to hire a plumber and a tile contractor when you replace the tub.

Ask the contractors for referrals were you can go and see his work. Most contractors of this type will give certain people a deal so that you can go over their house and see his work.

The places you will want to inspect are around the tub drain and over flow and around the edges of the tub were it meets the walls and floor. What is the best way to refinish a bath tub?
There are many refinishing kits on the market. Do not expect any of them to look like a new tub. Should you decide to undertake this project, the most important step is the prep work. If you skimp here, you will regret even starting the job. Where most finishes fail is at the drain flange. If possible, remove it before starting. Liners are an option but the prices I have seen are more expensive than replacing the tub. What is the best way to refinish a bath tub?
have a professional do it, ive tried all diy methods and none of them worked for a long preiod of time...
I dont know of any process that has any longevity, self applied or professionally apllied. New tubs are porcelain coated which out lasts any other applied repair because its harder and more durable. I would opt for a new tub.
I do not think there is a best way, I have tried several methods, which did not look good, and ended up putting in an insert.

It looks good, and really was not that expensive.
Buy new one. Cheaper, better and less work.
At one time I had a claw foot tub that was beyond cleaning to make it look nice. It was so worn out, cleaning was not the answer. I had a professional come and painted the inside of it. There are people who specialize in doing this. When done it looked like new. It is possible to paint it yourself with epoxy

paint but I wouldn't advice it.
The best way is replace it.

Next best is scrub it with Zud or Barkeepers' Friend.

Next I would have it refinished, that is, some guy comes in the house and sprays it with a somewhat permanent finish.

Even less than that is paint it with Klenk's epoxy for tubs.

  • We attempted to replace the faucets in our bath tub and how the hot water valve wont close? What do we do?

Marry a plumber. We attempted to replace the faucets in our bath tub and how the hot water valve wont close? What do we do?
retrace your movements, start over from scratch. We attempted to replace the faucets in our bath tub and how the hot water valve wont close? What do we do?
If you're talking about the new fixture, try turning it all the way on and let it run for a sec to flush out and debris that may be lodged in it. if you mean the shut off supplying the fixture, try turning it off tighter with a pair of pliers, but be careful.

Replacement of a bathtub faucet is a big job. It usually takes a pro 2-4 hours to complete that task. If you have the pipe apart and are playing bucket brigade, take a garden hose, cut the end off and slip it over the end of the pipe to divert the water to a drain. A size 16 hose clamp will keep it from slipping off.

    Good luck
well im not sure that i know what faucets, are,i am in australia and i can only assume that you mean the washers in your tap that screw down into the hole to stop the water.are you sure your eplaced that one,or did you drop it accidentaly before you put the tap back together? I would be undoing it again and checking it.It could have lodged itself sideways in their preventing it to plug properly.
you can try washers, behind the hot water valve, did you get the right faucets, they come in different sizes. maybe your copper pipe is to short, you might have to change them. I did this kind of work before, and changed everything. copper piping, the walls, and put new tile, came out great. suzuki99@sbcglobal.net

What age can start bathing my baby in the bath tub?

In the little protable bath tub - any time after the umbilical cord stump has fallen off.

In the big bath tub that you would use, any time they have good control over body movement. Well I guess you could do the big bathtub at any time (after the umbilical cord has fallen off) but it might be uncomfortable for you as you have to support them and try and wash them etc...What age can start bathing my baby in the bath tub?
at 5-6 months of age. your baby will be probably too big for his bathtub. Dont bath him/ her with out bathing aid since he can slip in the tub. I recommend the Papillon baby bath ring- my baby LOVES it: http://www.babyanywhere.com/products/pap鈥?/a>What age can start bathing my baby in the bath tub?
Use the small tub, until they're about a year old or can walk. It's way safer and less accident prone. If the baby is a newborn, you should wipe them down with a wet rag or baby wipes until the umbilical cord falls off.
It depends what you mean. You can bath the baby in the bath tub starting on day 1 as long as you are careful. If you mean without the use of any bath help, around 6-7 months or when they are sturdy in sitting up by themselves.
as soon as his belly button cord falls off. just put a rag in under his head and only put a little bit of water in. brody actually prefers the big tub now. but usually small babies like the security that a small baby tub offers.
from birth -it's personal choice where you chose to bathe your babe. most parents prefer a small basin for newborns. showers are great for some families, too.
any time as long as the umbilical cord has come off. just be there or in the tub with your baby so they dont fall over.
Use a baby bath tub until the baby is able to sit up on it's own.
baby bath - when cord falls off

big bath - when they can sit without support really well
never accept advice about your baby from yahoo answers, cmon
When they can sit up on their own without wobbling.
i would say around 5 or 6 months

My Bath tub in the bathroom is EXTREMELY dirty. How do I clean it with out much effort?

There are a few things you can try. The first, you can try baking soda and lemon juice, together they make a mild abrasive. Just make sure to rinse when done!!

For a porcelin tub you can also try sprinkling a little Alum(found in the spice aisle of the grocery store), add some lemon juice to it, and work it in really well. This helps with dinginess. If the stains don't come right off, let it sit, even up to overnight, but if you let it sit overnight, add some more lemon juice in the morning. Then rinse really well. You may need to do this a few times, just make sure to rinse when done.

To get rid of soap scum, in a spray bottle, put half water and half white vinegar. Mix up, spray, and wipe, this works great!!

For the grout, use 50/50 water and bleach, work into the grout with a toothbrush. You can also use one cup of Borax and to this add two cups baking soda and add one cup hot water. make a stiff paste, stir together, you may need to add more water to make it spreadable. Then brush this on the grout and scrub back and forth with a scrub brush. Rinse with a spray bottle of water and wipe, this is all natural and safe. Just make sure to rinse this thoroughly!!

For water stains in the tub, use a pure pumice stone, takes away the water stains.

For mold and mildew on grout, use vodka, yep, vodka! It's a disinfectant! Put it in a spray bottle, spray it on, let sit, then rinse off.

I hope these help!My Bath tub in the bathroom is EXTREMELY dirty. How do I clean it with out much effort?
Use the all purpose cleaner, ';spray nine'; It works great. Just spray some onto the tub, and let it stand, for about two minutes, and you will see the dirt coming right off. Then wipe it down, with a clean rag, and you can see the difference..Here is the website..

http://spraynine.com/My Bath tub in the bathroom is EXTREMELY dirty. How do I clean it with out much effort?
Try using Kaboom and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They do wonders together on showers and tubs.
Believe it or not, I found a cleaner at the $ Store. It's put out by Home Choice and is a Toilet Bowl Cleaner, but works fantastic on ceramic. I spray, let sit 5-10 mins. and does it clean. Just rinse with water (no brush, no scrubbing). It's a foam.
    use cleanser and elbow grease
    lots of bleach
Fill tub with hot water and put about 1/2 bottle of all purpose cleaner in (pine sol , Mr, Clean ) and let set overnight , In morning remove water and remove remaining of grime with full strenght allpurpose cleaner and a green chore boy scratcher with elbow grease . Happy scrubbing
Pay someone to do it for you.
if you want it cleaned w/out much effort you'll need to hire someone else to clean it... are you kidding me?

Spray it with a bathroom cleaner first, let it set for a couple of minutes then scrub w/ a scrub-brush - you do know what a scrub-brush is, don't you? Rinse, then use a soft-scrub, comet type detergent to clean the bottom of the tub.

If you want to save yourself the EXTREME effort of cleaning your bathtub in the future you have several options: 1) don't use it, 2) clean it after ever use, 3) wax it with car wax and then lightly clean it after every use.

It's a bathtub - you don't go INTO it clean - the dirt has to go somewhere!
    u lazy %26amp; nasty
GROSS!!! extremely??? Ajax or comet usually works well, then maybe you should use that stuff you spray on the tub and shower every time you get out to keep it up!!
comet or ajax. The first couple of times it will take a little work. But if you keep up with it it shouldn't require so much time or effort.
My bathtub used to be dirty too, and I used Scrubbing Bubbles Foam bathrooom cleaner. Just spray it on and let sit for 10-15 minutes then take a scrub brush or sponge and rub the whole tub. Should only take about a minute. Then rinse.
Try ';Barkeeper's Friend'; it's cheap and abrasive so wear gloves but it really get's the dirt and stains out, kind of like Ajax or Comet but better! Use it with a scrub brush or sponge. There are instructions on the bottle.
How about not too much effort plus no toxic substances:

Spray the tub with pure white vinegar, let it soak in for 15 minutes, and then scrub it with baking soda.
Simple Green. Soak the tub then leave it to cut through the grime. Return, respray, then wipe away. Rinse well.

What causes the water to the bath tub to make a whistling sound once you turn it on,?

the sound will stop if you turn down the water some instead of having it wide openWhat causes the water to the bath tub to make a whistling sound once you turn it on,?
Classic question here. The problem is the bib washer in the faucet. it has worn to a configuration which causes the water to whistle while flowing over it.

by opening the faucet more, the water flows more and the whistling stops.

replace the washer and you'll be fine.

    signed,

retired plumber...What causes the water to the bath tub to make a whistling sound once you turn it on,?
Do the pipes also whistle if someone in another part of the house turns on water? You may have low pressure in your holding tank, so that whenever the water is low and your holding tank is being refilled, the pipes whistle.
air is trying to escape...turn on all outlets for fifteen minutes...
the sound of the water rushing through the pipe to the faucet makes the noise inside.

How do i get it through my cats thick heads that my bath tub is not a litter box?

i dont like rubbing their noses in it, because that is just nasty for both of us, and to be honest, i dont have much of a heart to do itHow do i get it through my cats thick heads that my bath tub is not a litter box?
Leave it full of water when you're not using it.How do i get it through my cats thick heads that my bath tub is not a litter box?
When my cat started peeing in my dogs big water bowl, my mom bought this big dog tent that you can zip closed. she put the litter box in it and put the cat in there, so my cats options were to either pee/poo in the litter box or in the other end where he slept. then after a while he started to use the litter box and is now trained.
If you don't want to use the nose-rubbing thing, try leaving water in the bottom of your tub. The cats will scramble out faster than they went in!
Leave a little bit of water in it when it isn't in use and they won't want to get into it anymore.
plus rubbing their noses in it just confuses them

easy fix - shut bathroom door

ok why is the kitty doing this ? does it have a bladder infection - the cool bathtub may be soothing

does it dislike the litter (most cats prefer non-scented clumping)

does it dislike the place of the litter box? ( near a scarey laundry machine might have frightened kitty at some point)

has the box been kept clean regularly

has the kitty been declawed (declawed cats frequently stop using their litter boxes becuase thier paws hurt when digging)

is it a manx (manx often have problems with their bowels)

is it a persian or himalayin (they often pee inappropriatly)

do you have more than one cat (rule of thumb is one litter box per cat with one extra, and not close together - some cats will not allow others to use the litter)

have a vet check the cat for infection or other problem
Take a look at your litter box.. Is it large enough for the cat? Is it not too high that the cat cannot climb into it? Does it have enough litter in it to satisfy a cat?
rubbing her nose in it does nothing...just keep repeating over and over by removing her from the bathtub each time and she will remember it!
Leave it full of water, and in case you don't feel like wasting all that money and water every day, invest in a training DVD/book/lessons! They helped me out tremendously!!

vote me best answer if this helps! =D
run the water every time the cat goes in/near the tub. they'll get the idea to stay out!
my cat had this problem too try switching the cat litter and keep the litter box clean and when they do go in the tub pick up the poop and put it in the litter box and show the cats. i hope that works
close the thick door to the bathroom...
It's simple... Just run some water in the bath tub, the cat will jump over in and jump out just as quick, it worked with my cat.
Where is the cat's liter box? Can you keep the bathroom closed? Spray some vinegar in the tub and perhaps place an object in the tub to crowd the cat out. My grandmother used to leave a hat on each of her dining chairs to keep her hairy cats off of them.

Don't try training your cat as if it were a dog. They don't respond the same way. If you can catch the cat going in there, squirt it with some water if possible.

Also, consider the placement of the litter box, is it near the shower? If it is, maybe move it away, if it isn't maybe move it closer. Is there anything undesirable about the litter box? Make sure it is clean and pleasant. Replace the litter often. Empty it completely occassionally and scrub it out. Dry thouroughly and then replace with fresh litter. Perhaps your cat is seeking privacy. If you don't want to buy a box with a top over it, maybe place the litter box inside the shower until your cat is used to using it again and then place it just outside the shower. Gradually (a little a day) move it anywhere and your cat will likely follow (if you move it slowly enough each day). You can even find an interesting method to toilet train your cat like this!
A lot of cats will use the bathtub when they have a bladder infection. Have your vet rule out a health problem before thinking it is behavioral.
I wish my cats would use the bathtub. Throw poop in the toilet and run water to move pee down the drain. I would be in heaven. But the suggestions above about shutting the door, leaving a small amount of water in tub are good answers.

Could you have your cat call mine and tell them about using the tub, Just kidding............

    Good luck
Spray him/her with water each time you catch them trying to do it.
Make them stay outside,on a animal friendly leash,if they are indoor cats that is. Sticking there noses in it I agree isn't so great or fun to do,but if the pottying gets out of hand, its probely your best opition to use. Good Luck %26amp; yet again, Best Wishes.

  • How do you clean a bath tub drain?

A majority of drain problems with tubs are caused by hair caught around the stopper assembly. Up on the side of the tub under the spout there is usually an overflow drain with a handle on it that you flip to hold the water in the tub for a bath. Remove the two screws and pull out the stopper assembly. It may be 12-16 inches long. When you pull it out, the accumulated hair will come with it. Clean it off and run water down the drain for a it to wash any left over hair down. Grease up the plunger at the end with any kind of grease, put it back into the drain assembly and put the screws back in. You should be good to go! You'll be surprised how fast it drains! Hope this helps! Any more info, just ask!How do you clean a bath tub drain?
Well, if its really bad you should get a drain snake or a ';zip-it'; You put it down the drain and it comes back up with all the stuff that has the drain clogged. Otherwise if its not too bad you can get a good drain unclogger to put the whole bottle down the drain and it disolves it and then the water runs right out of the tub like new!How do you clean a bath tub drain?
Depending on how the filter cover is set up, it should be pretty easy to pop off and put back on, use a snake if you have one, thats the best way to really get everything out of the pipe. You can get a snake pretty cheap at evil 'ol walmart, or your local hardware store if there is such a thing still left in your town. We still have a true value, and they really do have everything you might need.
They sell formulas in various stores that you pour into the bath tub and it cleans the pipe...if your talking about stuff that is stuck in the drain ...they have thin pipes out can buy to get into there...if your talkng about the outside of the drain use ajax bleach =]
Home Depot sells a long piece of plastic called a ZipIt. Will reach far into the pipe and pull out the clog. Remember that tubs have a removable ';clean-out'; cover that lets you get to the pipes easier.
you buy a small hand held snake. you pull the overflow cover off and run the snake down thru the overflow. you might have to take apart the trip lever on the overflow.
Here is a product that you might find handy to keep in your tool box at home. you can order it on line. http://www.flexisnake.com To maintain clean drains use an enzyme instead of a chemical drain cleaner.
a small brush and tub and tile cleaner. also, depending on type of tub...toilet bowl cleaner w/acid works wonders. if you mean hair...then your fingers.
I personally recomend lye crystals... follow the directions closely and you will not be injured
    heavy duty bleach

How can I unclogg my bath tub without using strong chemicals?

Pour a quarter cup or more of baking soda in the drain then immediately follow it with 1 cup hot vinegar. It will foam a bit, that's ok. Give it time to work (1-2 minutes) then follow that with a large pot of boiling water.

If the tub has standing water, before you try any of the suggestions, try using a plunger. How can I unclogg my bath tub without using strong chemicals?
Open a window pour 2 cups of bleach into the tub it will also whiten your tub but the fumes are strong if the water doesn't go down the drain, you might need to call a plumber to rule out tree roots or piping,or you can try these web sites I looked up for you. good luck.

gohttp://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-unc鈥?/a>How can I unclogg my bath tub without using strong chemicals?
What has almost always worked for me is to reach in with either my fingers or pliers and take out all the gunk I can reach. If there are still issues, I try pouring some boiling water down the drain - at least a gallon of it.

Beyond that, I've tried bleach or baking soda with limited results. I just go for the snake once the first two tries don't work.
Remove the vented cover over your drain and remove all the hair. Then stuff a wet wash cloth or rag the best you can into the small opening where the over flow is. This will help block air escaping and help with the suction when you use a plunger. Use a plunger top break free the clog.
Try taking the stopper out of the drain and checking it. If it has hair wrapped around it that could be the cause of the problem and if so all you need to do is cut the hair lose.
Pour baking soda in your drain then follow with white vinegar(about a cup) allow to foam for 15-20 minutes then flush with boiling water. Don't use a plunger,it could damage your pipes.
Try pouring a few BIG pots of boiling water down the drain. Boil them all at once, then pour all of them down the drain at one time. Sometimes that unclogs a drain.
I have used some baking soda then added the vinegar and last the real hot water works every time
go to home depot or lowes they make a tool that will pull old hair right out of drains forgot what it is called but it is cheap just made out of plastic with little barbs on it
use a plunger but cover the overflow drain first....or going through the overflow drain with a snake
Pour hot vinegar down the drain. It will not hurt the pipes and it will clean them out.
use a wet vac to pull the clog back up the pipe,
    Try an electric snake.

What can I do to get rid of springtails in my bath- tub, shower, and sink. Look like fleas, brown. They Jump.?

Sounds like they are coming from the drains. You may want to try some type of product such as Rid X. Even white vinegar would probably get rid of them. What can I do to get rid of springtails in my bath- tub, shower, and sink. Look like fleas, brown. They Jump.?
Take a small bottle something with a small neck that has an opening of about an inch.and and a half. Put about 1';-2'; of apple cider vinegar in it and make a small funnel to fit in the opening of the bottle or whatever you use. I know this sounds crazy but works. Just set that thing in the room, near the sink and they will get in there and will not come out. It might take a day but these things will all be gone and the vinegar will be loaded with the bugs. We have done this for yrs. and works really well. Got the idea out of a book somewhere, maybe Jerry Baker?

Definitely! Stick her in there! Just be careful not to get water in her ears!
Yes! Go ahead...I would still be cautious for now though. My doctor suggested putting alcohol on her belly button after a bath because it helps dry up any water that may have gotten down in there where you can't get.
wow,You can wash your baby with the umbilical chord and without,Just make sure not to use any bath soaps or oil.Just water to clean around it =]
Yes. Baths are okay as soon as the cord falls off.

My doctors called it folliculitis but my bumps look to me more like you describe (mosquito bites) than the bumps that I see pictured on the web labeled as folliculitis. I have this better controlled now with products containing menthol than anything I was ever prescribed by a doctor. I recommend that you look for products containing tea tree oil or peppermint oil and find natural or homemade soaps and shave creams. I use peppermint oil in an olive base as a moisturizer. I specifically avoid mineral oil or petroleum products now and it has been the most helpful change that I have made. Also, are you using anything new? Soap, razor, shampoo? All of this can run down your skin and into your bath water. Call me crazy, but if you develop a food allergy it can cause you to breakout and be irritated by your bathwater. Are you eating anything new? Is it itchy? If so it points to 2 things - allergy or dry skin. Dry skin is an easy fix but allergies can be complicated and difficult to track down. Try adding a little oatmeal tied up in an old rag to your bath water (cheaper and sometimes more pure than aveeno) or add a little olive oil to the water or rub on after wards. Olive oil is great for the skin and will not have all the irritants found in lotions plus it is cheaper. If this doesn't help, you may have to see a doctor. I would recommend seeing your family doctor first since it would be cheaper than a specialist. Good luck!I keep getting what looks like mosquito bites when I get out of the bath tub-what can it be?
hey hun no its not mold its from scrubbing the skin hard i get the same thing lolz when we cleaning our skin we sometimes scrub like really hard an don't realise because its our skin an we ding it but u are fine hun just a lil rough with your body

o i forgot DUH!!! do it itch really bad if it do then its hives an stop using the soap tht u use clean the tub iub out everytime u get n an out u are breaking out from the soap hives is no joke thy itch like crazy an thy swell up an look very nasty
How hot is your bath water? It could be prickly rash (heat bumps). You may also be having an allergic reaction to the soap you're using. Good luck. :)

How is doing it in the bath tub.?

I'm 16 and have had sex with my boyfriend a couple of times. I wanna spice it up a little bit tho. How would having sex in a bathtub full of hot water be? Would it be better instead to do it in a shower? Please answer. How is doing it in the bath tub.?
Shower's better. It's hard to get it in under water. And doing it standing up is so fun! If he's big and strong enough, have him pick you up and do you against the wall, or lean over and take him from behind. Have fun!How is doing it in the bath tub.?
    Shower, but do not sleap.

    liquid fabric softener or salt

run about a quarter inch of hot water in the tub and while it's running pour in a good cup of fabric softner, suds gone

    same with salt
Take out your salt shaker and sprinkle the bubbles.....
    Cold water
    Try some liquid fabric softener.:)
use the shower hose to wash them quickly and effectivly down the drain
Add some bath oil........then swish it around...bubbles gone quickly.

I'm wondering why you would add the bubbles and then want them gone so fast.....oh well....I am supposing it's just a hypothetical question....in that case it's answered.
Sprinkle some Baking soda into the bath this will take away some of the soap bubbles Good Luck !

Bath tub stained into brown after I pour liquid plumr T.T?

Bath tub was clogged so I poured liquid plumr along the wall so I could pour it slowly... Right after that, tub wall turned into brown just like that and it doesn't come out..

I didn't try bleach or other cleaning stuff ..I don't want to make situation worse..

How am I gonna solve this serious , annoying problem????!

Any suggestion?Bath tub stained into brown after I pour liquid plumr T.T?
I would try vinegar first, and then if that doesn't work try water, soap and bleach combination. If all else fails, and this product has permanently stained your tub and tile you may want to consider painting it with a good bathtub friendly epoxy, but I think you'll find stains come out very easy with just soap, water, and bleach. Good luck.Bath tub stained into brown after I pour liquid plumr T.T?

It really is like magic. They have them at most grocers.
BarKeepers Friend (Wal-Mart isle by the Comet) made into a paste is a really good bet. Just grab a 3mm scrubber pad and scrub the stain out. If it doesn't come out with that then you can only have the tub refinished by a professional.
Try a heavy-duty powder scrub like Zud or Barkeeper's Friend; make a paste with the powder and some water and scrub with a hard cleaning brush.

Can sperm travel in a bath tub?

The other day i was relaxing in a warm bath tub ,when my boy freind came on the other side to have soak. Its only later i realize that.Just reassure me that no way a sperm can swim in warm water ,even thougth we didnt make love. Can sperm travel in a bath tub?
    Hi!

There are two answers to this question. Scientifically, no. The likeliness of his LAZY sperm making it into your body and then to an egg is not possible. There is however an old biblical example where a woman claimed to have gotten pregnant from a bath water sperm. She was believed (innocent until proven guilty) but in real life it just doesn't happen.

Hope that helps. Can sperm travel in a bath tub?
yeah sperm can travel anywhere but if its been in the bath tub its prob no good
Did he ejaculate in the water or do you think a sperm just snuck out for a dip?

It is possible but not likely to get pregnant in this way.......it would be rare and a lot of other factures would have to weigh in.
    be reassured.
The heat of the bathtub would kill the sperm. No you can't get pregnant that way.
yea it can but its not going to happen like that!!
Sorry hun this made me chuckle!! No there is no way they can swim in the bath. But where are they swimming to? I just have this image of a dumb sperm swimming into a bubble thinking it's an egg....so sorry, but thanks for cheering me up!!

Can any one please help me? I have a 4month old kitten who keeps using the bathroom in the bath tub, why?

My husband an i have tried to make her litter box as comfortable as possible for her( neither 1 of us has cared 4 a kitten b4) by using different types of litter, using a lower ';box'; actually it's a wicker table tray so it's low enough 4 her to step in an out of an not get hurt. But we are sooo confused an are in need of help quick. thanks in advance. Can any one please help me? I have a 4month old kitten who keeps using the bathroom in the bath tub, why?
Put the litter box in the tub until she starts to use it, then put on the floor in the bathroom. After she starts to use it there, keep moving it using the same tactic, until you get the box where you want it. I would get a regular litter box and wouldn't worry about her getting hurt falling out of it. I have had cats all my life, and have seen them fall from unbelievable heights and not get hurt. Can any one please help me? I have a 4month old kitten who keeps using the bathroom in the bath tub, why?
I wanna say thank you an it's still taking a few tries but i think she is getting the hang of it; she's still going in the tub but we try an catch her as often as we can. thanx again

My mom had a cat that did this. Use to drive her crazy. She cover the drain with plastic and removed when using tub. Cat stopped using drain.
put catnip around and in the litter tray
its better than the carpet or your bed!

Put its litter tray in the bath, it will eventually get the idea it is just a kitten afteral.
I agree with putting the litter box in the tub. Or shutting the kitty out of the bathroom entirely. I have 3 cats aging from 2 yrs old to 11yrs old. The way one of them lets me know something isn't right is when they don't use the litter box. But, your's is new. What ever you do ... don't hit or yell at it.. kitties don't learn from that. A sqirt bottle can be handy. Also, I believe you have to catch them in the act. Not try and show them later what it is they did wrong. They don't learn like dogs do. If you can catch him/her maybe you could gently lift them in the process into the litter box. Ps. If it used to use the box and now it isn't ... it is upset about something. Did you by chance change the food it eats?
For some reason, she likes the surface. Cats are litter box trained better when an adult cat shows them. You will need to follow her around, and when she tries to get in the tub and go to the bathroom, you will need to say NO loudly and firmly and lift her up and put her in the litter box. It will take a couple of days, but it will work.
you have to let the kitten know that is her place, by placing her in the litter box, she is not going to autom. know that is her place unless you show her around the litter box....and once she goes in the tub, you pick her up show her the mess, and then place her there then say no then pick her up and place her into the litter box, trust she will know......after that
If it's like our situation, your kitty may be trying to tell you that she's not comfortable peeing on litter.

We just had the same problem with our 2-year old kitty peeing on furniture and my bed. This went on for 3 months. Finally this week I found the solution. I set up a second litterbox next to the first one, and just put a liner and a couple pieces of folded newspaper in the bottom (no litter at all). Bingo, she started peeing on the paper and pooping on the other box with the litter. It's worth a shot! If she's trying to tell you that the tub is more comfortable because it's not grainy like litter, this is an easy thing to try.
My best advice would be to go to a veterinarian and schedule a discussion on litterboxes, litter aversion, and possibly ruling out medical issues as causes. It can be a difficult issue to sort out, but your vet is your best reference.

    -a veterinarian
A lot of people keep their kittens and puppies etc in the bathtub or small round pools when they are small to keep them from messing all over the place so the kittens get used to going in the tub. You just need to retrain it is all.
Maybe try a regular litter box - at four months, she shouldn't have a problem getting into one. The wicker may be freaking her out a bit.
keep showing her the toilet maybe she's mistakin the tub for the toilet.lol

    good luck
Your kitten used the bathtub as his toilet once and sort of got used to that place - cats are creatures of habit. What I suggest you do, and this will take at least one day vigilance on your part is this:

    1) Fill the bath tub with soapy water - making it absolutely unattractive to the kitten

    2) Move the kitty litter box into the bathroom.

    3) Whenever kitty runs to the bathroom presumably to go pee or poop, follow him. pick him up and plonk him in his litter box.

    4) As he sits or stands in the box make scratching and digging motions with your fingers at the litter. BETTER yet, hold of his paws gently and making digging and scratching motions with them - guiding him.

    5) If kitty jumps out of litter box to try and do his business elswhere - just gently pick him up again and plonk him back into the litter box.

    6) It will get to the point where kitty's bladder or bowels will just have to ';GO'; and he will inadvertently do it in the box - that is, if hasn't done it already the first time you plonked him there.

    7) Once he discovers that the kitty litter box don't ';bite,'; he'll go do his business there out of habit

    8) You may have to do this procedure a couple of times. But I found with my kittens, I only had to show them once and they got the idea.

Worth a try. Perhaps all your kitten needs is for someone to show him HOW to use the box.

    Good luck!

She's probably just drinking it because it's a convenient watering hole at the time.

Btw, make sure there's no anti-bacterial label on the soap in the tub. It's poisonous.
My Shih tzu does! When I fill up the bathtub he licks the water and when I take a shower, I have like the glass doors and he licks the water that comes through the bottom of the shower.
My dog doesn't do it, but my cat sits in the bath meowing until you turn the tap on, then she drinks the water. She won't drink from her bowl though. I have no idea why she does it.
Mii pitbull will drink the water out while i am takin a bath then she will jump inso i had to start lockin her out while i took a bath

We just finished re-surfacing our tub. We had the same thought- it was in great shape, just ugly. We bought a kit at Home Depot called Klenk's. It cost about $30 and if you follow the directions it is perfect. But you have to follow the directions exactly, which isn't hard. Our tub turned out nicely, and it looks like we bought a brand new one. It can also be tinted (the enamel) and you can buy it in white and almond colors. It would depend on what caused the dirt in the first place. Is it down to not being cleaned after use or what? One of the Cillit Bang products is apparently good for ingrained dirt but it depends on what your bath is made of.

Is it normal to have a highly fast heart beat after getting out of a hot tub/bath?

Count your heart rate over 30 seconds and double it. If it is over 100 when you are resting, then see a physician. It is normal for your heart rate to become high during exercise. That's the only way that you can burn fat. But if your heart rate is getting high while you are in the hot tub, quit staying in it that long.Is it normal to have a highly fast heart beat after getting out of a hot tub/bath?

I don't like using my nails, because then I have to scrape the soap out from under them.

And soap on a rope isn't a practical alternative, unless....

You could try making your own re-usable soap rope by finding a plastic screw, tying some string around it, and screwing it into the soap. That way when that bar is used up, you can just screw it into a new one. I say use a plastic screw for safety reasons. You could also try a piece of chopstick, or one of those pointy straws from a capri sun, thread the string through the straw first, then spin it as you stick it into the soap.

There's probably many ways to make some sort of makeshift handle, keep an eye out around the house.

Another option is to put friction pads in your bathtub. They make it safer, since they prevent your feet from slipping, and also make good targets to 'herd' the soap toward.

If there's a shower poof (obviously not yours) in the shower, you can use that material as extra grip when trying to recover the slippery object.

Another method is to make use of a wash rag. Use it to gather lather, putting the soap in the dish when not in use. The rag allows you to hold on to the soap with much less slippage. Wash rags are also better at exfoliating dead skin than bare hands, and can act as a net to help catch the elusive soap.

I've got more ideas, but I should really be sleeping...

Good luck on your next hunt!
they make these little cover things for bar soap. They originally made them for little kids so the soap wouldnt pop out of there hands. I'm not sure what they are called, but I find them in the baby section by the bathing. That or look in the toddler bath section. My kids and I both love them.
Stick your nails in it including your thumbnail. Your thumb and the rest of your nails should ';face'; each other and you'll be able to move your fingers and thumb towards each other and grip it to pick it up. You should try it right now!
when it falls grabs it with both hands put one on each end of the soap or slide it all the way to the wall of the shower wall then slide it up to your palm. that's what i do i hope i helped :)
Well, there's always soap on a rope.

But in your case, I'd put a choke chain on that sucker.

    Teach it who's boss...

Yes, I have refinished two of them (outside, not inside). And they came out great. The thing is, you'll have to resolve in the beginning that it's not going to be perfect and work with that in mind. The first thing I did was get a rust remover like ';Naval Jelly'; and let it sit, then scrubbed it with a wire brush. I sanded what I could then painted. I painted the feet white with gold accents. It came out beautiful.Has anyone ever tried to refinish themselves an old claw foot cast iron bath tub?

Can you use condoms in the bath tub, like submerged in water?

and if you cant, then how can you have safe sex while taking a bath? Can you use condoms in the bath tub, like submerged in water?
You can if you're careful, but I wouldn't recommend it. Chemicals in the water could damage it, it washes away lubricant and spermacide (and believe me, water is not a good lubricant), and hot water can damage it, too.

The only ways I can think of would be something like the pill, injection, implant etc. (hormonal contraception)Can you use condoms in the bath tub, like submerged in water?
Actually, there's a bigger issue. If water is forced up by thrusting, it can enter the fallopian tubes and cause permanent scarring, which can lead to infertility. I was looking for the same question and happened upon this after seeing that answer by sex guru sue johansen.

You can use a condom in the water. However, water, condoms, and sex do not mix for a women's vagina. It causes irritation, bacteria formation, and may even cause infections. So if you decide to use one in the tub, be careful, keep checking to make sure it is still on, and take it slow.
oh cory - you idiot. You can get chicks pregnant no matter which way up you are. Where did you get your sex-ed from?

Condoms in the bath still work - though the water sploshing all over the floor might not be so appealing - I recommend a larger body of water like a pool or a lake. HOT!
    Definitely.
    Do not recommend that!!!!
if shes on top you cant get her pregnant. its gravity man. what goes up must come down.

What kind of pipe do you have (copper, galvanized, etc.)?

EDIT: OK, I see this often and it has happened in my own home as well. Galvanized pipe builds up mineral deposits so bad that the pipe soon only has about a 1/4'; opening.

DO NOT put CLR or any chemical in your water pipes. The only solution is to have a plumber replace as much of the galvanized pipe as he/she can without tearing into any walls, etc. This will be relatively inexpensive and will also be a big upgrade over the old galvanized pipe.Bath tub spout and shower head water running slow?
I agree with ndtweedy, that you obviously have a flow restriction, common cause are corroded pipes. Tub spouts do not have filter screens, and if your tub spout is slow, the shower will not change anything, as the water flows through the same valve. The only other problem could be that a cartridge inside of a single handle valve has debris lodged in it, therefore restricting the water flow. best bet is to have a plumber give it a look.
your diverting valve assembly is shot .replace your shower faucet
i also agree with ndtweedy. there is most likely a constriction. galvanized pipes corode and constrict as they age. replace them. also a lot of turns in the line constrict the flow. when you replace them install a larger diameter pipe. i usually t off a 1'; from the main line to just before the shower, the reduce to the standars 1/2';. also if you are on well water you may need to replace the pressure tank. i had terrible pressure from the shower until i replaced the pressure tank with a discarded one from the gravel mine across the road. now awsome pressure.
well do you live on a hill cus if you do it takes a lot of pressure to push all the water up the hill
The first thing that I'd do is remove the filter on the end of your faucet if there is one. Your shower head could also be clogged, especially if you've got really hard water. Try soaking both in some sort of mineral remover like Limeaway or CLR. It's possible that you've got some kind of build-up inside the faucet that's preventing water from getting through to either of the outlets. Other than replacing the entire faucet, I'm not sure what you could do about it.
Sounds like you may have a leak, if its just in the bathroom and no where else I would be looking for damp spots elsewhere in the house. If it was just your shower head then i would say get a new one but if its the taps as well??? I know plumbers as expensive but if you have a leak its never going to fix itself.

    Good Luck xoxoxo

  • Can you catch a fungal disease such as Athletes Foot from a bath tub once it has been cleaned with bleach?

The bath tub in my rental unit has some spots where the glaze has worn off. Before renting the unit I cleaned the tub with not only bleach but a variety of bathroom cleaners such as Tilex, Kaboom, CLR etc. I even used oven cleaner.(there were rust stains)

Can it be possible for my renters to contract a foot infection or fungal disease from the previous tenent? Can you catch a fungal disease such as Athletes Foot from a bath tub once it has been cleaned with bleach?
It would be highly unlikely as bleach and water mixed together is strong enough to kill the aids virus, so I doubt athletes foot would be much of a chalenge. That's very considerate of you to ask about that though. It shows that you care about other people. I hope that helps. Can you catch a fungal disease such as Athletes Foot from a bath tub once it has been cleaned with bleach?
    Possibly.
If you clean your feet with bleach, I think fungal disease should be the least of your worries...good luck with those burns.
    I highly doubt it.
No, bleach is supposed to kill 99.9% of the fungi and bacteria. However, make sure you also clean the bathroom floor as well and not just the bath tub.

How do i get old wallpaper glue off the inside of my bath tub? i don't know how long it has been there.?

we have been in this house for two years and it was on the insides of the tub. we have scrubed and scrubed and it eill not come off, can it be removed? i can not take a bat in the tub because when i did i would get a rashHow do i get old wallpaper glue off the inside of my bath tub? i don't know how long it has been there.?
Try using a wallpaper paste remover. Perforate the paper before applying the remover. Let stand as per instructions on the bottle and then scrape off. I am assuming that the finish on the tub is not an issue? How do i get old wallpaper glue off the inside of my bath tub? i don't know how long it has been there.?
it sounds like you have cement glue there probably because they were repairing the wall and this stuff is highly to give you a rash use some rubber cement remover it will come off but you must rinse very well many times
Try Diff....you can get this at any hardware store in the paint department... It removes wallpaper.
I have removed all kinds of wallpaper glue and what you have is not wallpaper glue. It should have come off with all you have done to it. I would try gently removing what ever it is with a razor blade. Good luck
Get some Diff. Lowes has it.
Fill the tub with hot water %26amp; add 1 liter of viniger. Make sure the wallpaper is covered by the water. If it is a large tub you may want to add more vinigar. After about an hour is should just peel off. You may want to use a plastic scraper if there is alot.
Some wallpaper glues do eventually get quite tough, they polymerise into a tenacious skin.

Try a paint remover gel. Brush it on with care (some of these can be quite dangerous to the skin and eyes) then leave it for a few hours (overnight) before washing off and repeating. This should soften it enough for a wooden scraper to finish the job. Then scrub the bath well with soap and water and rinse before using.

What is the best way to level out a bath tub?

LEVEL THE TOP OF THE BATH ACCURATELY NO PITCH AS LAST ANSWER SUGGESTED BATH INCORPORATES IT INSIDE GOOD LUCKWhat is the best way to level out a bath tub?
Set the tun into the space where it's going to rest and mark it. I make sure the floor is well braced and in good condition. Then I remove the tub and put in three to four bags of level set (40 lbs. ea.) and then reset the tub into this. This will stop all noises from the tub and give a good support. What is the best way to level out a bath tub?
With a level. From side to side it should be level. This should be verified at both ends. From end to end it should pitch slightly toward the drain.

After experiencing a bad fall in the shower, i would not think of having a tub or shower without at least one grab bar. This costs a lot less than my week in the hospital.

How long does a Ferret need to take a bath, and about how much water should be in the bath tub for it,thanks.?

you need to bathe your ferret at most every 6 months the more you bathe them the more oils they produce and that is what makes them stink! and as to how long you should bathe them, as long as they will tolerate the water, do not fill your tub to full i just full enought so they an barely touch the base of the tub the best idea is to bathe them in the sink! Also remember that ferrets have high body temperaters so dont make the water too cold for them and give them a nice warm towel to burrow in when you are done! good luckHow long does a Ferret need to take a bath, and about how much water should be in the bath tub for it,thanks.?
yea you shouldnt bathe it more than once a month...unless you want it stinkier and to get skin problems.

Right when i got my ferret i gave her a bath since she was really stinky from being in one cage with 6 other ferrets and a dirty litter box at the pet store.

I bathe her in the tub with about 2 or 3 inches of water so she can stand or dive if she wants.

But she doesnt really like taking baths and she will try to climb up my arm so i usually sit in the tub with her to make her feel better :DHow long does a Ferret need to take a bath, and about how much water should be in the bath tub for it,thanks.?
It's not really how long your ferret needs a bath. Just put your ferret in enough water to scoop on her (wash her in a small container or sink to save water), get her wet, scrub her, rinse her, scrub her again, rinse her, and dry her off. So long as she smells nice and clean, your good. ^_^
you should have enough water for ur fuzzbut to swim, but also have it low enough so they can stand up.

it can take as long or as short as you and ur fert want it to... just have fun!!!

some fuzzbutts don't like water... but u just gotta tell it to suck it uppppp haha

i love giving my Bella a bath... it's so much funnnn

    Enjoy!

    I Hope I Helped!

    oh and to david l

ferrets who are bathed every two weeks are SUPPER smelly... you don't want to bathe ur fert more than once a month. if you bathe it too often, their skin works extra hard to regenerate the oils lost in the bath, strengthening their odor. you can put bi-odor in the water. it makes the fuzzbut smell more sweet and musky than dirty and musky ^ _ ^
I used to bathe my ferret in the sink, just hold her , soak her under the faucet and soap her up with baby sopa and then rinse...Took about 5-10 minues
    every two weeks.
